What’s New?!? How about a NEW quilt recipe?

What’s New?!? How about a NEW quilt recipe?
Charlotte Hawkes Nov 7, 2020

Welcome to all my new followers! This year, 2020, has been a real trip for sure! Scrap quilting has become really popular and I have such fun making up new designs for the mysteries. I can’t believe this will be my 8th mystery quilt! And, this year my followers have more than doubled with quilters from every corner of this earth! I don’t know how you found me but I’m glad you did!! It boggles my mind! And!!!…Guess What!!…..there will soon be a long overdue new updated website!!!….Hopefully before we begin with the clues in January. With Covid and our crazy election Life is still good!!!

I know I haven’t posted since the last mystery but I’m going to try and be better at that. I have been busy working on my seemingly endless pile of UFO’s. Other than coming up with the new mystery quilt, I have tried to NOT start any new projects. I did say tried!! It’s been really hard!!! And I have been determined to only use fabric from my stash!!! Like many of you, I do have enough for several lifetimes. I made two versions of the new mystery and finished a top with another pattern that I thought would be good but I was not in love with it after it was done…. Added to the not quilted pile!

I’ve also been working on a Christmas wall hanging from a kit that my husband really liked. It has a lot of applique which is something I never really like to do. But…. I’ve figured out how to use some of those fancy stitches on my machine. That’s a good thing!

I also have been hand quilting a queen size quilt in the evenings while hubby and I watch TV. I’ve been working on it ever since I finished hand quilting the Medallion mystery in April. It’s almost done. (Phew!) Heavily quilted with one inch squares….(sigh)..I’m on the border now!!!! Thankfully!!! But I am loving the way it is turning out! I pieced this quilt top probably 15 or more years ago. It is one of my favorite patterns (Whirligig) and I’ll be so glad to have it done. I guess it had waited long enough!!!

Well, since you made it through my ramblings I’ll reward you with the “recipe” for the next mystery. How’s that?!? I’ve tried to come up with a catchy name but no luck…….So I’m just calling it:
