Other Projects in the Pile (…….Oh Yeah, There’s More!)

Kansas Trouble (no not the fabric line)

This one has been around a long time.  All hand pieced.  I’ve taken little bags of “trouble” with me for years it seems.  I have the center finished but now I’m working on the next border which is similar blocks only in a different position.   This is one of those that you shake your head and say “”What was I thinking!”

Floating Stars

This is basically 2 1/2″ squares.  I just finished piecing the top and now I need to figure out the borders.  I love the way this came out.  My grandson looked at it and said, “Grandma, I see the stars!”  But he saw different stars than I did.  He saw the wonky stars.  What do you see?  Stars?  Wonky Stars? Stripes?  Interesting!

Scrappy Hearts for Samantha

I made this several years ago and it still needs to be quilted.  Someday I hope to give it to my granddaughter.  I saw the pattern hanging in a quilt shop and came home and drew up the block.  It’s all made with 2″ squares

Whirl-A-Jig

I love this pattern.  It makes me happy to look at all the bright colors.  Yes, it’s still in the pile.  It needs a border and then to be quilted.

Pinwheels with Scrappy Sashing

This was a fun thing to do.  It looks so busy but after it is quilted I’m thinking those pinwheels will just pop!

Nine Patch Baskets

My guild had a nine patch exchange.  Many could not think of what to do with them so I made up this top to show that even the ugliest nine patches can look great.  This is on the quilting pile.  Will make someone a nice snuggle-y/lap quilt.

Strippy Strings

What to do with all those strips of strings!  Cut them up into blocks and sew them together!  Still needs to be quilted tho.

Wow! Where does the time go?

Somehow, I think, as you get older the minutes and hours get shorter. I don’t know how that works but I don’t ever seem to get as much done in the same amount of time as it used to take. What’s up with that?
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The bird is gone and so is Black Friday. Can you believe Christmas is less that three weeks away! I’ve been busy tho. My grand daughter’s quilt is almost quilted and ready for binding.2014-12-05 13.51.15

I finished my Judy Neimeyer tablerunner class. The top is done. I just need to quilt and bind it. Maybe it will get done in time for Christmas THIS year…….lol. Whoops! You can see my toes. 2014-12-05 13.52.21
And like I don’t have any other projects to do……silly me…..I started Bonnie Hunter’s Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt. I almost have half of clue #1 done. Clue #2 came out today but I haven’t really figured it out yet. Looks like it will cause some headaches if you’re not careful.2014-12-05 13.53.18
Enjoy this season and Happy Quilting!

Baby, it’s Cold outside!

We had sloppy wet snow off and on all day! I love it when the weather is bad! It gives me time to get reacquainted with my quilt room. I was looking through my WIP and found the quilt I started last Spring for my newest granddaughter. I had pulled most of the fabrics but I had only three blocks sewn together. I don’t normally cut everything I need all at once (how many times does it just not look like you thought it would). So I started cutting the rest of what I needed. Love that Easy Angle tool! Since I need 3 1/2 squares and HST’s to match, it’s a no brainer to cut the background from strips. The rest is scrappy of course, monkeys, kitties, dogs and bunnies to name a few with some crayon box colors to tie it together. Looks cute! I think I’ll go sew!
