Is this winter weather crazy or what??!!?? We survived the polar vortex with -32 degree wind chills, got probably 20″ of snow. Four days later it was 68 degrees. Snow melted and then an ice storm with 1/2″ ice build up on all the trees. Last week at 6pm it was 30 degrees and by 11pm it was 60 and then back down to 30 the next morning with 50 mph winds. What a rollercoaster ride! I feel sorry for the poor animals living outside. They don’t know whether to hibernate or what. Maybe they were enjoying the warm weather just like us humans. I almost seemed like Spring! But winter has returned as expected. We’re having another snow and freezing rain storm! Sigh!! Only a few more months………
Well, one good thing! That crazy weather set some of us up for some prime sewing time. After the move, I realized just how many UFO’s I have! OYE!!! So I’ve been trying to be a good girl and get some of those oldies but still goodies into a finish-able state. My scrap pile keeps calling me but I’m trying not to listen. No New Projects!!!!! I keep telling myself. So far myself has listened…..lol! But I can’t guarantee how much longer I can resist the temptation to do something with that overflowing bin of strings!!!!!
I almost forgot to wish you all, my quilting buddies, a Happy Valentine’s Day! Love is in the air!!! The love we all have for quilting!!! I love the fact that we all have a common interest that unites us around the globe. Peace and warmth stitched together with love! We all need more of that!
Ok! on to Clue #2!
Handy Dandy Scrap Quilt – Clue#2
5. Using the 4 1/2″ pieced squares that were made last month in #3. Sew one square to both sides of the sections made in #4 as shown below. Make sure that the blocks are in the same position as shown. Make 24.
6. Take the remaining sections from #4 and sew a colored 2 1/2″ square to join the sections as shown.
7. Sew these center strips to the sections in #5 to make 12 – 10 1/2″ blocks. Press and trim if necessary.
8. Using the colored 4 1/2″ x 2″ strips and the colored 2 1/2″ x 2″ rectangles, sew one strip to each side of the rectangle as shown. Make 80. Mix it up. Make them all different! They should measure 10 1/2″ x 2″. Press and set aside.
OK, there you have it! The next clue will emerge on March 12th at 7 EDT. Yayee! We’ll be back on Daylight Savings Time!
