I’m loving what I have seen and I think you will love what you are about to see! I just love this block! So. OK…..let’s get started! Remember value is the key to the focus in this block and mystery pattern. So if it says “Very Light”…..that’s what it means! That means very much lighter than all your other fabrics. OK, so NOW let’s get started!
Scrappy Stars Around The Corner – Clue #2:
4. Choose 20 of the 3 1/2″ assorted medium to dark colored squares for the center of your blocks. Using medium to dark assorted sections from the 4 1/4″ squares that have been cut on both diagonals, sew one section on the top and bottom of the 3 1/2″ square and then one on each side, making a square in a square block (4 3/4″ square) as shown below. Use different fabrics to make it interesting. No need to match but just be pleasant. Press to the outside and trim off dog ears.
5. Using the very light colored assorted 3 7/8″ squares that have been cut on the diagonal, sew one assorted section on each side of the above block the same way as you did in #4. Be careful of those bias edges. No wonky blocks allowed here! Press to the outside and trim the dog ears (6 1/2″ square).
6.Sew one section from #3 in the previous Clue #1 to the top and bottom of the block making sure that the background fabric is on the outside. Sew all 20 top and bottom.
7. Sew one background 3 1/2″ square to each side of remaining sections from #3. Sew the two remaining sides to the block as shown. Press and square up if needed to 12 1/2″. Twenty blocks done!
Happy Quilting! The next clue will be on March 8th at 7pm EST.
